44 R E S O L U T I O N
55 WHEREAS, Jose "Chito" Vela III, general counsel to State
66 Representative Solomon Ortiz, Jr., has made outstanding
77 contributions to the legislative process and the people of Nueces
88 County during the 81st Legislative Session; and
99 WHEREAS, The son of Jose "Chito" Vela, Jr., and Patricia Olga
1010 Vela, Mr. Vela grew up in Laredo and graduated from the LBJ School
1111 of Public Affairs before earning his J.D. from The University of
1212 Texas School of Law; he and his wife, Elizabeth, are the proud
1313 parents of two children, Josue Diego and Perla Cruz; and
1414 WHEREAS, Mr. Vela worked as an assistant attorney general in
1515 the open records division of the Texas Attorney General's Office
1616 before joining the office of Representative Ortiz in January 2007;
1717 during his tenure as general counsel, he has rendered valuable
1818 advice on all legal and policy matters; and
1919 WHEREAS, The constituents of District 33 have benefited
2020 greatly from his impressive expertise and legal experience, and as
2121 the 81st Legislative Session comes to a close, it is a pleasure to
2222 commend Chito Vela for a job well done; now, therefore, be it
2323 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
2424 Legislature hereby recognize Jose "Chito" Vela III for his
2525 dedication and accomplishments as general counsel in the office of
2626 State Representative Solomon Ortiz, Jr., and extend to him best
2727 wishes for continued success and happiness; and, be it further
2828 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2929 prepared for Mr. Vela as an expression of high regard by the Texas
3030 House of Representatives.
