| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Jose "Chito" Vela III, general counsel to State |

| 6 | 6 | | Representative Solomon Ortiz, Jr., has made outstanding |

| 7 | 7 | | contributions to the legislative process and the people of Nueces |

| 8 | 8 | | County during the 81st Legislative Session; and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, The son of Jose "Chito" Vela, Jr., and Patricia Olga |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | Vela, Mr. Vela grew up in Laredo and graduated from the LBJ School |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | of Public Affairs before earning his J.D. from The University of |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | Texas School of Law; he and his wife, Elizabeth, are the proud |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | parents of two children, Josue Diego and Perla Cruz; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Vela worked as an assistant attorney general in |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | the open records division of the Texas Attorney General's Office |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | before joining the office of Representative Ortiz in January 2007; |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | during his tenure as general counsel, he has rendered valuable |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | advice on all legal and policy matters; and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, The constituents of District 33 have benefited |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | greatly from his impressive expertise and legal experience, and as |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | the 81st Legislative Session comes to a close, it is a pleasure to |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | commend Chito Vela for a job well done; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | Legislature hereby recognize Jose "Chito" Vela III for his |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | dedication and accomplishments as general counsel in the office of |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | State Representative Solomon Ortiz, Jr., and extend to him best |

| 27 | 27 | | wishes for continued success and happiness; and, be it further |
