H.R. No. 2559
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Jose "Chito" Vela III, general counsel to State
Representative Solomon Ortiz, Jr., has made outstanding
contributions to the legislative process and the people of Nueces
County during the 81st Legislative Session; and
WHEREAS, The son of Jose "Chito" Vela, Jr., and Patricia Olga
Vela, Mr. Vela grew up in Laredo and graduated from the LBJ School
of Public Affairs before earning his J.D. from The University of
Texas School of Law; he and his wife, Elizabeth, are the proud
parents of two children, Josue Diego and Perla Cruz; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Vela worked as an assistant attorney general in
the open records division of the Texas Attorney General's Office
before joining the office of Representative Ortiz in January 2007;
during his tenure as general counsel, he has rendered valuable
advice on all legal and policy matters; and
WHEREAS, The constituents of District 33 have benefited
greatly from his impressive expertise and legal experience, and as
the 81st Legislative Session comes to a close, it is a pleasure to
commend Chito Vela for a job well done; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
Legislature hereby recognize Jose "Chito" Vela III for his
dedication and accomplishments as general counsel in the office of
State Representative Solomon Ortiz, Jr., and extend to him best
wishes for continued success and happiness; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Mr. Vela as an expression of high regard by the Texas
House of Representatives.
