44 R E S O L U T I O N
55 WHEREAS, Members of Catholic Charities are visiting the State
66 Capitol, and this occasion provides a fitting opportunity to honor
77 the organization for its dedicated service to countless individuals
88 in need; and
99 WHEREAS, Catholic Charities reaches out to persons of all
1010 races, religions, and socioeconomic backgrounds, sharing with them
1111 the healing power of faith and offering vital assistance to help
1212 them become self-sufficient; and
1313 WHEREAS, With more than 20 locations in Texas, Catholic
1414 Charities provides an array of programs and services, including
1515 adoption, basic personal-living needs, counseling, disaster
1616 response, education and enrichment, housing, food bank, health,
1717 refugee, immigration, and social support, and last year its members
1818 aided more than 400,000 individuals; and
1919 WHEREAS, In keeping with the Catholic Church's mission to
2020 respect the dignity of all, the organization operates a criminal
2121 justice ministry program in jails and prisons throughout the state;
2222 criminal justice ministers serve as chaplains and assist in the
2323 rehabilitation of convicted inmates; they also help those who have
2424 completed their prison terms with their reintegration into society;
2525 moreover, Catholic Charities expands its work by advocating for
2626 social justice and empowering communities through action and
2727 education; and
2828 WHEREAS, Catholic Charities has remained steadfast in its
2929 commitment to providing individuals with the support and direction
3030 they need to secure a bright future for themselves, and the
3131 compassionate service rendered by this noteworthy group is an
3232 inspiration to citizens across the Lone Star State and beyond; now,
3333 therefore, be it
3434 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
3535 Legislature hereby welcome the members of the Catholic Charities
3636 delegation as they gather in Austin and extend to all those
3737 associated with the organization best wishes for continued success
3838 with their many good works; and, be it further
3939 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
4040 prepared for Catholic Charities as an expression of high regard by
4141 the Texas House of Representatives.
