| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Vergie Miller of Houston has distinguished herself |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | through her service to the community, and her leadership and |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | generosity of spirit have earned her the heartfelt admiration of |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | all who know her; and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Born in Crockett, Ms. Miller moved to Houston in |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | 1952; she worked for Talbert Oil for many years, and after her |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | retirement, she established a home health care business; and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, This industrious Texan has served as treasurer of |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | the Brookhaven Civic Club for more than two decades, and she has |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | given selflessly of her time and talents to improve her |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | neighborhood and to help countless people in her community; an |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | Eastern Star Associate Matron since 1983, Ms. Miller is also a |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | valued member of Pisidia Missionary Baptist Church, where she |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | volunteers with the Christian Outreach Ministries; and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, She and her husband, the late James E. Miller, were |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | blessed with four children, and Ms. Miller has since known the joy |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | of welcoming into her family 13 grandchildren and 10 |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | great-grandchildren; and |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | WHEREAS, Texas communities are made richer by the efforts of |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | those individuals who step forward to participate in community life |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | and help fellow citizens in need, and Vergie Miller has set an |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | outstanding example of civic engagement; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | Legislature hereby honor Vergie Miller for her contributions to the |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | community and extend to her best wishes for continued success in her |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | endeavors; and, be it further |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | prepared for Ms. Miller as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|---|
