| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Elizabeth Catherine Block has provided |

| 6 | 6 | | indispensable support to the office of State Representative Angie |

| 7 | 7 | | Chen Button during the 81st Legislative Session; and |

| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, An accomplished young woman, Ms. Block attended The |

| 9 | 9 | | University of Texas at Austin, where she earned a bachelor of |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | business administration degree with honors and a bachelor's degree |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | in liberal arts from the Plan II Honors program; along the way, she |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | also studied at the School for International Training in |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | Switzerland; in fall 2009, she plans to enter Columbia Law School |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | for which she has been awarded the Alexander Hamilton Fellowship; |

| 16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, Ms. Block has gained a range of experience through |

| 17 | 17 | | the years, distinguishing herself as an intern with The Texas |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | Observer, ACORN, and the Texas Fair Trade Coalition, among other |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | organizations; in addition to her position as a legislative aide, |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | she serves as a writing coach for the Act on School of Business; and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, By sharing her unique perspective on issues and |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | contributing numerous hours of hard work, Elizabeth Block has |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | helped to ensure that the constituents of House District 112 and the |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | citizens of the Lone Star State are well served, and she is indeed |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | deserving of special recognition; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |

| 27 | 27 | | Legislature hereby commend Elizabeth Catherine Block for her |
