H.R. No. 2640 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Elizabeth Catherine Block has provided indispensable support to the office of State Representative Angie Chen Button during the 81st Legislative Session; and WHEREAS, An accomplished young woman, Ms. Block attended The University of Texas at Austin, where she earned a bachelor of business administration degree with honors and a bachelor's degree in liberal arts from the Plan II Honors program; along the way, she also studied at the School for International Training in Switzerland; in fall 2009, she plans to enter Columbia Law School for which she has been awarded the Alexander Hamilton Fellowship; and WHEREAS, Ms. Block has gained a range of experience through the years, distinguishing herself as an intern with The Texas Observer, ACORN, and the Texas Fair Trade Coalition, among other organizations; in addition to her position as a legislative aide, she serves as a writing coach for the Act on School of Business; and WHEREAS, By sharing her unique perspective on issues and contributing numerous hours of hard work, Elizabeth Block has helped to ensure that the constituents of House District 112 and the citizens of the Lone Star State are well served, and she is indeed deserving of special recognition; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas Legislature hereby commend Elizabeth Catherine Block for her contributions to the office of State Representative Angie Chen Button and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success as she pursues her degree from Columbia Law School; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Ms. Block as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
