44 R E S O L U T I O N
55 WHEREAS, The loved ones of Dorothy Rogers of Waxahachie were
66 greatly saddened by her passing on April 14, 2009, at the age of 72;
77 and
88 WHEREAS, Born in Wellington on March 9, 1937, to George and
99 Emma Estes, the former Dorothy Estes grew up with the companionship
1010 of two brothers, G. E. and Charles Glen, and a sister, Wanda Jo; and
1111 WHEREAS, She married Gordon Rogers, and the couple shared
1212 nearly 50 years together; their family life was made even richer
1313 with the addition of two children, seven grandchildren, and six
1414 great-grandchildren; and
1515 WHEREAS, Over the course of her 32-year career with Valvoline
1616 Oil Company, Mrs. Rogers was the recipient of multiple honors and
1717 awards; in retirement, she shared her time volunteering in schools
1818 and on mission trips, and she was an active member of the Baylor
1919 Auxiliary, Gingerbread Homemakers, Waxahachie Mothers Club, Ellis
2020 County Republican Women, and Ellis County Master Gardener
2121 Association; she also enjoyed traveling; and
2222 WHEREAS, "Miss Dorothy" was an inspiration to many for her
2323 optimism and her determination to live life to the fullest, and she
2424 will forever hold a special place in the hearts of those who knew
2525 and loved her; now, therefore, be it
2626 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
2727 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Dorothy Rogers and
2828 extend sincere condolences to the members of her family: to her
2929 husband, Gordon Rogers; to her daughters and their spouses, Debbie
3030 and George Payne and Tracy and Chris Harbour; to her mother, Emma
3131 Estes; to her brother, Charles Glen Estes; to her grandchildren and
3232 great-grandchildren; and to her other relatives and friends; and,
3333 be it further
3434 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
3535 prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
3636 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Dorothy
3737 Rogers.
