| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The loved ones of Dorothy Rogers of Waxahachie were |

| 6 | 6 | | greatly saddened by her passing on April 14, 2009, at the age of 72; |

| 7 | 7 | | and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Born in Wellington on March 9, 1937, to George and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | Emma Estes, the former Dorothy Estes grew up with the companionship |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | of two brothers, G. E. and Charles Glen, and a sister, Wanda Jo; and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | WHEREAS, She married Gordon Rogers, and the couple shared |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | nearly 50 years together; their family life was made even richer |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | with the addition of two children, seven grandchildren, and six |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | great-grandchildren; and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, Over the course of her 32-year career with Valvoline |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | Oil Company, Mrs. Rogers was the recipient of multiple honors and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | awards; in retirement, she shared her time volunteering in schools |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | and on mission trips, and she was an active member of the Baylor |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | Auxiliary, Gingerbread Homemakers, Waxahachie Mothers Club, Ellis |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | County Republican Women, and Ellis County Master Gardener |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | Association; she also enjoyed traveling; and |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | WHEREAS, "Miss Dorothy" was an inspiration to many for her |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | optimism and her determination to live life to the fullest, and she |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | will forever hold a special place in the hearts of those who knew |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | and loved her; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |

| 27 | 27 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Dorothy Rogers and |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | extend sincere condolences to the members of her family: to her |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | husband, Gordon Rogers; to her daughters and their spouses, Debbie |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | and George Payne and Tracy and Chris Harbour; to her mother, Emma |

| 31 | 31 | | Estes; to her brother, Charles Glen Estes; to her grandchildren and |
