5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Residents of the Alief community in Houston lost a |
---|
6 | 6 | | beloved friend and neighbor with the passing of Henry Donald |
---|
7 | 7 | | Williams on May 13, 2009, at the age of 75; and |
---|
8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Henry Williams was born in Kentucky, and he worked |
---|
9 | 9 | | to help provide for his nine younger siblings before answering his |
---|
10 | 10 | | nation's call to duty and joining the U.S. Air Force as a teenager; |
---|
11 | 11 | | after serving his country for 21 years, he went on to become an |
---|
12 | 12 | | educator and was employed by the Aldine and Lamar Independent |
---|
13 | 13 | | School Districts; and |
---|
14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, This public-spirited Texan constantly strived to |
---|
15 | 15 | | improve the quality of life for the members of his community; he |
---|
16 | 16 | | served on the board of the Bellaire West Home Owners Association and |
---|
17 | 17 | | as the treasurer for the Houston Police Department Westside |
---|
18 | 18 | | Positive Interaction Program, and he was a founding member and |
---|
19 | 19 | | secretary of the Alief Super Neighborhood Council; also involved in |
---|
20 | 20 | | cultural activites, he was a longtime member of the Notre Dame choir |
---|
21 | 21 | | and an officer of the Rainbow Rockers Square Dance Club; and |
---|
22 | 22 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Williams enjoyed 41 years of marriage with his |
---|
23 | 23 | | wife, Heidi; after her death, he was fortunate enough to find love a |
---|
24 | 24 | | second time, and he and his wife, Anne, often volunteered together |
---|
25 | 25 | | and were highly regarded in their community for their diligent work |
---|
26 | 26 | | with the annual Alief Health Fair; Mr. Williams was a devoted father |
---|
27 | 27 | | to his four children, Barbara, Mike, Jim, and the late Henry Lee |
---|
28 | 28 | | Williams, and he welcomed eight grandchildren into his treasured |
---|
29 | 29 | | family; and |
---|
30 | 30 | | WHEREAS, With his compassion and generosity, Henry Williams |
---|
31 | 31 | | enhanced the lives of many, and his legacy of goodwill will continue |
---|
32 | 32 | | to inspire those who were privileged to know him; now, therefore, be |
---|

34 | 34 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |

35 | 35 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Henry Donald |

36 | 36 | | Williams and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: |

37 | 37 | | to his wife, Anne Williams; to his children, Barbara McInnis, Mike |

38 | 38 | | Williams and his wife, Edie, and Jim Williams and his wife, Shelli; |
