 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Television meteorologist Amber Sullins of El Paso
 has won the 2009 Best Weathercast Award for Division 3 from the
 Texas Associated Press Broadcasters; and
 WHEREAS, This impressive award represents Ms. Sullins's
 third consecutive win, as she received Best Weathercast Awards from
 TAPB in 2007 and 2008; and
 WHEREAS, A native of Phoenix, Arizona, Ms. Sullins earned her
 bachelor's degree in atmospheric science from the University of
 Arizona; while still in college, she worked for the National
 Weather Service in Tucson, designing an interactive website and
 participating in data analysis for the North American Monsoon
 Experiment; and
 WHEREAS, In 2005, Ms. Sullins moved to El Paso and joined the
 weather team at KVIA-TV, where she was responsible for the morning
 and noontime weather forecasts; a certified broadcast
 meteorologist, she is a member of the El Paso Extreme Weather Task
 Force; and
 WHEREAS, This talented and dynamic professional has spoken
 regularly about weather to students in El Paso schools, and she has
 taught meteorology classes at The University of Texas at El Paso
 Center for Lifelong Learning; and
 WHEREAS, Amber Sullins has proven herself to be a fine
 meteorologist and a first-rate broadcaster, and she may indeed take
 pride in winning this impressive award for the third consecutive
 year; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
 Legislature hereby congratulate Amber Sullins for winning the 2009
 Best Weathercast Award and extend to her sincere best wishes for
 continued success; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for Ms. Sullins as an expression of high regard by the
 Texas House of Representatives.
