44 R E S O L U T I O N
55 WHEREAS, Family and friends will cherish their memories of
66 Linda Jean Roland Harrell, who passed away on May 13, 2009, at the
77 age of 52; and
88 WHEREAS, A native of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Mrs. Harrell was
99 born on July 4, 1956, to Robert Linder Roland and Betty Shirley
1010 Roland; she graduated from Centenary College of Louisiana in 1980,
1111 earning a bachelor's degree in history, and settled in Dallas,
1212 where she worked for Buddy Fogelson; and
1313 WHEREAS, Mrs. Harrell was completely devoted to the
1414 well-being of her family, including her husband of 28 years, Mike,
1515 who was the love of her life, and their three children, in whom she
1616 took great pride; an accomplished seamstress who was known for
1717 creating original clothing and costumes for special occasions, she
1818 was fully engaged in her children's lives, helping them with
1919 school, scouting, and sports activities; initially volunteering
2020 for endeavors relating to Lake Highlands High School, she later
2121 participated in activities of Texas Tech University, the University
2222 of Mississippi, and the United States Naval Academy, where she
2323 became president of the Naval Academy Parents Club of North Texas;
2424 she further expressed her care and concern for members of the
2525 military by becoming very active in the Lake Highlands Military
2626 Moms organization; and
2727 WHEREAS, Mrs. Harrell's warmth and generosity were shared
2828 with friends and neighbors; she was always available to help others
2929 and to transport or care for neighborhood children, and she could
3030 make any experience more memorable with her kind and caring ways;
3131 and
3232 WHEREAS, Although her journey on this earth ended far too
3333 soon, Linda Harrell leaves behind a legacy to treasure for those who
3434 held her dear, and the love they shared with her will forever light
3535 their lives; now, therefore, be it
3636 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
3737 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Linda Jean Roland
3838 Harrell and extend sincere sympathy to the members of her family: to
3939 her husband, Mike Harrell; to her three children, Michael Linder
4040 Harrell, Lauren Elizabeth Harrell, and Ensign Robert Alexander
4141 Harrell; and to her other relatives and many friends; and, be it
4242 further
4343 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
4444 prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
4545 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Linda Jean
4646 Roland Harrell.
