H.R. No. 2748 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Family and friends will cherish their memories of Linda Jean Roland Harrell, who passed away on May 13, 2009, at the age of 52; and WHEREAS, A native of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Mrs. Harrell was born on July 4, 1956, to Robert Linder Roland and Betty Shirley Roland; she graduated from Centenary College of Louisiana in 1980, earning a bachelor's degree in history, and settled in Dallas, where she worked for Buddy Fogelson; and WHEREAS, Mrs. Harrell was completely devoted to the well-being of her family, including her husband of 28 years, Mike, who was the love of her life, and their three children, in whom she took great pride; an accomplished seamstress who was known for creating original clothing and costumes for special occasions, she was fully engaged in her children's lives, helping them with school, scouting, and sports activities; initially volunteering for endeavors relating to Lake Highlands High School, she later participated in activities of Texas Tech University, the University of Mississippi, and the United States Naval Academy, where she became president of the Naval Academy Parents Club of North Texas; she further expressed her care and concern for members of the military by becoming very active in the Lake Highlands Military Moms organization; and WHEREAS, Mrs. Harrell's warmth and generosity were shared with friends and neighbors; she was always available to help others and to transport or care for neighborhood children, and she could make any experience more memorable with her kind and caring ways; and WHEREAS, Although her journey on this earth ended far too soon, Linda Harrell leaves behind a legacy to treasure for those who held her dear, and the love they shared with her will forever light their lives; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Linda Jean Roland Harrell and extend sincere sympathy to the members of her family: to her husband, Mike Harrell; to her three children, Michael Linder Harrell, Lauren Elizabeth Harrell, and Ensign Robert Alexander Harrell; and to her other relatives and many friends; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Linda Jean Roland Harrell.
