| 6 | 6 | | softball team from The University of Texas at Tyler proved itself |

| 7 | 7 | | one of the finest in the nation, earning a spot in the 2009 NCAA |

| 8 | 8 | | Division III Softball College World Series; and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Finishing the year with an overall record of 39 wins |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | and 10 losses, the Patriots claimed the American Southwest |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | Conference title and then continued their superb play in the |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | postseason; in the West Regional tournament, UT Tyler twice bested |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | No. 1-ranked Linfield College to become one of the eight teams to |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | compete in the World Series tournament in Montclair, New Jersey; |

|---|
| 16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, This exceptional ball club received valuable |

| 17 | 17 | | contributions from all the members of the roster and saw two of its |

| 18 | 18 | | players, sophomore Whitney Wyly and senior Roo Richardson, become |

| 19 | 19 | | the first postseason All-Americans from UT Tyler; the squad was |

| 20 | 20 | | guided by head coach Mike Reed, with valuable input from assistant |

| 21 | 21 | | coaches Keith Bell, Christy Shipley-Gipson, Colby Gipson, and Kate |

| 22 | 22 | | Lightfield; and |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | WHEREAS, Through teamwork and determination, the Patriots |

| 24 | 24 | | softball team has furthered UT Tyler's admirable tradition of |

| 25 | 25 | | athletic excellence, and the players may reflect with tremendous |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | pride on a memorable year; now, therefore, be it |

| 27 | 27 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |

| 28 | 28 | | Legislature hereby congratulate the softball team from The |
