| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Since 1913, Jewish Family Service has provided vital |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | assistance and professional resources to members of the Houston |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | community in need; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, JFS is a nonprofit human service agency for people |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | of all ages and from diverse backgrounds; the highly trained |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | professionals on the JFS staff work diligently to provide |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | counseling for children, adults, couples, and families, as well as |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | senior services, social and educational programs, and financial |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | assistance; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Among the agency's many initiatives are a hospice |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | program, a chaplaincy program, career counseling and assessment, |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | and a specialized program for those suffering from chronic mental |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | illness; JFS provides community outreach services to support the |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | mental health of children, youth, families, and seniors, and the |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | efforts of those organizations that serve them; moreover, it offers |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | semiannual programs for mental health professionals and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | consultation services for the staffs of camps, schools, day-care |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | centers, and other organizations; and |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | WHEREAS, Jewish Family Service was recently recognized by the |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | national Association of Jewish Family and Children's Agencies for |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | its outstanding leadership and marketing initiatives; and |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | WHEREAS, For nearly a century, JFS has worked to strengthen |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | family life, aid individuals in achieving self-sufficiency, and |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | improve the social and economic conditions of their clients, and in |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | so doing, it has made a positive difference in the lives of |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | countless area Texans; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | Legislature hereby honor Jewish Family Service for its myriad |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | contributions to the community and extend to its staff best wishes |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | for continued success; and, be it further |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
