H.R. No. 2785 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Since 1913, Jewish Family Service has provided vital assistance and professional resources to members of the Houston community in need; and WHEREAS, JFS is a nonprofit human service agency for people of all ages and from diverse backgrounds; the highly trained professionals on the JFS staff work diligently to provide counseling for children, adults, couples, and families, as well as senior services, social and educational programs, and financial assistance; and WHEREAS, Among the agency's many initiatives are a hospice program, a chaplaincy program, career counseling and assessment, and a specialized program for those suffering from chronic mental illness; JFS provides community outreach services to support the mental health of children, youth, families, and seniors, and the efforts of those organizations that serve them; moreover, it offers semiannual programs for mental health professionals and consultation services for the staffs of camps, schools, day-care centers, and other organizations; and WHEREAS, Jewish Family Service was recently recognized by the national Association of Jewish Family and Children's Agencies for its outstanding leadership and marketing initiatives; and WHEREAS, For nearly a century, JFS has worked to strengthen family life, aid individuals in achieving self-sufficiency, and improve the social and economic conditions of their clients, and in so doing, it has made a positive difference in the lives of countless area Texans; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas Legislature hereby honor Jewish Family Service for its myriad contributions to the community and extend to its staff best wishes for continued success; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for the agency as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
