| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Kaparaboyna Ashok Kumar is being inducted as |

| 7 | 7 | | held at the Annual Scientific Assembly in Arlington on July 19, |

| 8 | 8 | | 2009; and |

| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, A graduate of Osmania Medical College in Hyderabad, |

| 10 | 10 | | India, Dr. Kumar completed a surgical residency at St. James' |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | University Hospital in England and a family practice residency at |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | The University of Texas Health Science Center at Tyler; he |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | currently serves as a professor in the Department of Family and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | Community Medicine at The UT Health Science Center at San Antonio; |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Kumar is an active member of the Texas and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | American Academies of Family Physicians, previously serving as TAFP |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | parliamentarian, vice president, treasurer, and the special |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | constituency representative on the executive committee; moreover, |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | he was the first International Medical Graduate delegate to the |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | AAFP Congress of Delegates; his many honors include the TAFP |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | Exemplary Teaching Award and election to the fellowship of the |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | illustrious Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh; and |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | WHEREAS, Deeply committed to his chosen field, Dr. Kumar has |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | earned the respect and admiration of his colleagues, who are sure to |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | benefit from his leadership of TAFP; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |

| 28 | 28 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Dr. Kaparaboyna Ashok Kumar on his |
