H.R. No. 2793 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Dr. Kaparaboyna Ashok Kumar is being inducted as president of the Texas Academy of Family Physicians in a ceremony held at the Annual Scientific Assembly in Arlington on July 19, 2009; and WHEREAS, A graduate of Osmania Medical College in Hyderabad, India, Dr. Kumar completed a surgical residency at St. James' University Hospital in England and a family practice residency at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Tyler; he currently serves as a professor in the Department of Family and Community Medicine at The UT Health Science Center at San Antonio; and WHEREAS, Dr. Kumar is an active member of the Texas and American Academies of Family Physicians, previously serving as TAFP parliamentarian, vice president, treasurer, and the special constituency representative on the executive committee; moreover, he was the first International Medical Graduate delegate to the AAFP Congress of Delegates; his many honors include the TAFP Exemplary Teaching Award and election to the fellowship of the illustrious Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh; and WHEREAS, Deeply committed to his chosen field, Dr. Kumar has earned the respect and admiration of his colleagues, who are sure to benefit from his leadership of TAFP; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas Legislature hereby congratulate Dr. Kaparaboyna Ashok Kumar on his induction as president of the Texas Academy of Family Physicians and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Dr. Kumar as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
