 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, The year 2010 marks the 75th anniversary of the
 founding of Kilgore College; and
 WHEREAS, During the summer of 1935, the citizens of Kilgore
 voted to establish a junior college district within the Kilgore
 Independent School District, and on September 13 of that year,
 Kilgore College offered its first classes to 229 students; since
 that time, enrollment has increased to more than 5,500 students;
 and
 WHEREAS, A publicly supported, two-year institution serving
 East Texas, Kilgore College offers a wide range of postsecondary
 educational opportunities, and it promotes high quality, great
 value, easy access, and community focus; guided by the motto
 "Emphasis Excellence," the college prepares students to enter the
 workforce or transfer to a four-year university, and it features a
 comprehensive financial aid program; and
 WHEREAS, Kilgore College also offers instruction in small
 business development, adult and continuing education, fine arts,
 and athletics, and it is the home of the famous Rangerettes
 dance-drill team; and
 WHEREAS, For 75 years, the faculty and staff of Kilgore
 College have committed themselves to meeting the educational needs
 of the community, and the school has played a vital role in helping
 many Texans build a bright and prosperous future for themselves;
 now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
 Legislature hereby commemorate the 75th anniversary of Kilgore
 College and extend to all those associated with the institution
 sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for Kilgore College as an expression of high regard by the
 Texas House of Representatives.
