44 R E S O L U T I O N
55 WHEREAS, A century of joyful memories and meaningful
66 accomplishments is truly reason to celebrate, and on April 12,
77 2009, Edward Joseph Casanova of El Paso reached that remarkable
88 milestone in his life when he celebrated his 100th birthday; and
99 WHEREAS, Mr. Casanova was born in Colorado in 1909; he
1010 answered his nation's call to duty with service in the U.S. Army Air
1111 Forces during World War II; he continued his military service after
1212 the war, spending a total of 24 years in uniform before his
1313 retirement in 1965; and
1414 WHEREAS, Mr. Casanova earned his private pilot's license in
1515 1947 and his commercial pilot's license three years later; he
1616 worked for the State of New Mexico after leaving the military, and
1717 he raised his three children, Joseph, Jane, and Julie, as a single
1818 father; and
1919 WHEREAS, Over the course of the past century, Edward Casanova
2020 has devoted himself to his loved ones and to serving his country,
2121 and it is a pleasure to join in honoring him for 100 years of life
2222 well lived; now, therefore, be it
2323 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
2424 Legislature hereby congratulate Edward Joseph Casanova on his 100th
2525 birthday and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued
2626 happiness; and, be it further
2727 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2828 prepared for Mr. Casanova as an expression of high regard by the
2929 Texas House of Representatives.
