| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, A century of joyful memories and meaningful |

| 6 | 6 | | accomplishments is truly reason to celebrate, and on April 12, |

| 7 | 7 | | 2009, Edward Joseph Casanova of El Paso reached that remarkable |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | milestone in his life when he celebrated his 100th birthday; and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Casanova was born in Colorado in 1909; he |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | answered his nation's call to duty with service in the U.S. Army Air |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | Forces during World War II; he continued his military service after |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | the war, spending a total of 24 years in uniform before his |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | retirement in 1965; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Casanova earned his private pilot's license in |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | 1947 and his commercial pilot's license three years later; he |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | worked for the State of New Mexico after leaving the military, and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | he raised his three children, Joseph, Jane, and Julie, as a single |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | father; and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, Over the course of the past century, Edward Casanova |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | has devoted himself to his loved ones and to serving his country, |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | and it is a pleasure to join in honoring him for 100 years of life |

| 22 | 22 | | well lived; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |

| 24 | 24 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Edward Joseph Casanova on his 100th |

| 25 | 25 | | birthday and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued |
