No. 2849 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, A century of joyful memories and meaningful accomplishments is truly reason to celebrate, and on April 12, 2009, Edward Joseph Casanova of El Paso reached that remarkable milestone in his life when he celebrated his 100th birthday; and WHEREAS, Mr. Casanova was born in Colorado in 1909; he answered his nation's call to duty with service in the U.S. Army Air Forces during World War II; he continued his military service after the war, spending a total of 24 years in uniform before his retirement in 1965; and WHEREAS, Mr. Casanova earned his private pilot's license in 1947 and his commercial pilot's license three years later; he worked for the State of New Mexico after leaving the military, and he raised his three children, Joseph, Jane, and Julie, as a single father; and WHEREAS, Over the course of the past century, Edward Casanova has devoted himself to his loved ones and to serving his country, and it is a pleasure to join in honoring him for 100 years of life well lived; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas Legislature hereby congratulate Edward Joseph Casanova on his 100th birthday and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. Casanova as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
