5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Friends and family are mourning the loss of Richard |

6 | 6 | | Earle Deweese of Bonham, who passed away on May 6, 2007, at the age |

7 | 7 | | of 62; and |

8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Born on October 15, 1944, to George and Marcella |
---|
9 | 9 | | Behrends Deweese in Fort Worth, Richard Deweese graduated from |
---|
10 | 10 | | Richardson High School and earned a bachelor's degree in marketing |
---|
11 | 11 | | from The University of Texas; during his college years, he was a |
---|
12 | 12 | | member of the Sigma Pi and Kappa Kappa Psi fraternities and |
---|
13 | 13 | | performed in the Longhorn Band; and |
---|
14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Deweese married Jayne Gay Jackson, and the |
---|
15 | 15 | | couple shared 15 rewarding years together before Mrs. Deweese's |
---|
16 | 16 | | death in 2003; Mr. Deweese was the father of three sons, Blake, |
---|
17 | 17 | | Perry, and Kenneth, and took great pride in their achievements; and |
---|
18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, In his professional life, Mr. Deweese worked as a |
---|
19 | 19 | | sales representative for Matthews Marketing Products; in addition, |
---|
20 | 20 | | he was a retired staff sergeant in the Texas Air National Guard and |
---|
21 | 21 | | was instrumental in the founding of the Armed Forces Day |
---|
22 | 22 | | celebration in Fannin County; an elder at First Christian Church, |
---|
23 | 23 | | he served as choir director, as Sunday school teacher, and as a |
---|
24 | 24 | | member and former chair of the church board; he was also active in |
---|
25 | 25 | | The University of Texas Alumni Band Association and was a longtime |
---|
26 | 26 | | member of the Handley Masonic Lodge; and |
---|
27 | 27 | | WHEREAS, Richard Deweese led a caring and purposeful life, |
---|
28 | 28 | | and he will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all those who |
---|
29 | 29 | | had the good fortune to know him; now, therefore, be it |
---|
30 | 30 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
---|
31 | 31 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Richard Earle Deweese |
---|
32 | 32 | | and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his |
---|
33 | 33 | | sons, Blake, Perry, and Kenneth Deweese; to his sister, Diana Sue |

34 | 34 | | Kerns, and her husband, George; to his mother-in-law, Mary |
