| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Iylana Nassiri of Texas Tech University in Lubbock |

| 6 | 6 | | has won the 2009 alcohol awareness poster contest for university |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | students, sponsored by the Texas Hospitality Association; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Aimed at promoting responsible consumption of |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | alcohol, the statewide contest required competitors to illustrate |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | the theme that a 12-ounce beer, a 1.5-ounce mixed drink, and a |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | 5-ounce glass of wine each contain the same amount of alcohol; Ms. |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | Nassiri has been awarded a $5,000 scholarship for her winning |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | entry; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Ms. Nassiri is currently a communication design |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | student in the College of Visual Arts of Texas Tech; she received |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | her associate's degree cum laude from Victoria College in 2006 and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | is a graduate of Bethel Christian School in Victoria; and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, A talented graphic designer and a diligent student, |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | Ms. Nassiri is a member of Phi Beta Kappa, and she was named to the |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | dean's list at Texas Tech in fall 2007 and to the president's list in |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | spring 2007, spring 2008, and fall 2008; in addition to her studies, |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | she assists her husband, a freelance video producer, by creating |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | design elements for his projects; and |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | WHEREAS, Iylana Nassiri's poster will be distributed |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | throughout the state to establishments selling or serving alcohol, |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | and will be of great value in raising awareness of the alcohol |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | content in popular adult beverages and in conveying the Texas |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | Hospitality Association message of moderation and responsibility; |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | now, therefore, be it |

| 30 | 30 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |

| 31 | 31 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Iylana Nassiri on winning the |

| 32 | 32 | | college student division of the Texas Hospitality Association 2009 |

| 33 | 33 | | alcohol awareness poster contest and extend to her sincere best |
