H.R. No. 2876 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Iylana Nassiri of Texas Tech University in Lubbock has won the 2009 alcohol awareness poster contest for university students, sponsored by the Texas Hospitality Association; and WHEREAS, Aimed at promoting responsible consumption of alcohol, the statewide contest required competitors to illustrate the theme that a 12-ounce beer, a 1.5-ounce mixed drink, and a 5-ounce glass of wine each contain the same amount of alcohol; Ms. Nassiri has been awarded a $5,000 scholarship for her winning entry; and WHEREAS, Ms. Nassiri is currently a communication design student in the College of Visual Arts of Texas Tech; she received her associate's degree cum laude from Victoria College in 2006 and is a graduate of Bethel Christian School in Victoria; and WHEREAS, A talented graphic designer and a diligent student, Ms. Nassiri is a member of Phi Beta Kappa, and she was named to the dean's list at Texas Tech in fall 2007 and to the president's list in spring 2007, spring 2008, and fall 2008; in addition to her studies, she assists her husband, a freelance video producer, by creating design elements for his projects; and WHEREAS, Iylana Nassiri's poster will be distributed throughout the state to establishments selling or serving alcohol, and will be of great value in raising awareness of the alcohol content in popular adult beverages and in conveying the Texas Hospitality Association message of moderation and responsibility; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas Legislature hereby congratulate Iylana Nassiri on winning the college student division of the Texas Hospitality Association 2009 alcohol awareness poster contest and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Ms. Nassiri as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
