| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Members of Leadership Edinburg Class XX have |

| 6 | 6 | | contributed to their South Texas community as civic leaders and |

| 7 | 7 | | volunteers; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Leadership Edinburg provides opportunities for |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | participants to increase their knowledge of vital public issues and |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | infrastructure and to visit with the leaders who are making |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | decisions that affect their city; and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, Classes inspire the spirit of activism and provide a |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | diverse membership with personal leadership training, networking |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | opportunities, and instruction from knowledgeable figures from |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | both the public and private sectors; and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, Enrolled in Leadership Class XX are: Diana Kaufold, |

| 17 | 17 | | Richard Martin, Jr., Natasha Delgado, Alejandro Rios, Eli Reyna, |

| 18 | 18 | | Florence Prater, Imelda Rodriguez, Anissa Salazar, Rogelio Pena, |

| 19 | 19 | | Abraham Pompa, Jose Cabeza de Vaca, Alexis Sereni, Lisa Rosales, |

| 20 | 20 | | Baldemar Gomez, Jacob De Leon, Angie Luna, Daniel Tijerina, |

| 22 | 22 | | WHEREAS, These dedicated Texans have put their lessons into |

| 23 | 23 | | practice by developing a plan to improve safety at the Edinburg |

| 24 | 24 | | Municipal Park; by holding fund-raisers, the class aims to bring in |

| 25 | 25 | | $20,000 to be used for lighting, benches, and sidewalks that will |

| 26 | 26 | | enhance both the appearance and security of the recreational area; |

|---|
| 28 | 28 | | WHEREAS, Through its efforts to build a more informed and |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | involved citizenry and to develop new leaders, Leadership Edinburg |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | is helping to create a brighter and more promising future for the |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | Lone Star State; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | Legislature hereby commend Leadership Edinburg for its promotion of |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | civic leadership and volunteerism and extend to its participants |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further |
