H.R. No. 288 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Members of Leadership Edinburg Class XX have contributed to their South Texas community as civic leaders and volunteers; and WHEREAS, Leadership Edinburg provides opportunities for participants to increase their knowledge of vital public issues and infrastructure and to visit with the leaders who are making decisions that affect their city; and WHEREAS, Classes inspire the spirit of activism and provide a diverse membership with personal leadership training, networking opportunities, and instruction from knowledgeable figures from both the public and private sectors; and WHEREAS, Enrolled in Leadership Class XX are: Diana Kaufold, Richard Martin, Jr., Natasha Delgado, Alejandro Rios, Eli Reyna, Florence Prater, Imelda Rodriguez, Anissa Salazar, Rogelio Pena, Abraham Pompa, Jose Cabeza de Vaca, Alexis Sereni, Lisa Rosales, Baldemar Gomez, Jacob De Leon, Angie Luna, Daniel Tijerina, Fernando Quintanilla, and Mark Aguirre; and WHEREAS, These dedicated Texans have put their lessons into practice by developing a plan to improve safety at the Edinburg Municipal Park; by holding fund-raisers, the class aims to bring in $20,000 to be used for lighting, benches, and sidewalks that will enhance both the appearance and security of the recreational area; and WHEREAS, Through its efforts to build a more informed and involved citizenry and to develop new leaders, Leadership Edinburg is helping to create a brighter and more promising future for the Lone Star State; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas Legislature hereby commend Leadership Edinburg for its promotion of civic leadership and volunteerism and extend to its participants sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for the group as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
