| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, On May 30, 2009, the Reverend Eric Rendell Tarver of |

| 6 | 6 | | Beeville is serving as Pastor of the Day for the Texas House of |

| 7 | 7 | | Representatives; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, A member of a family that has produced five |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | generations of preachers, Reverend Tarver answered his call to the |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | ministry at the age of 11 and gave his first sermon a week later; six |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | months after graduating from Bastrop High School in 1993, he |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | accepted the call to lead Macedonia Baptist Church of Carrizo |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | Springs, becoming one of the youngest senior pastors in the Lone |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | Star State at the age of 18; he later guided the congregation of |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | Greater Mount Olive Baptist Church in Del Rio and today serves as |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | pastor of the Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church in Beeville; and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, This esteemed clergyman has attended Southwest |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | Texas Junior College in Uvalde and Trinity Theological Seminary in |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | Indiana, and he has recently enrolled at Amarillo College to |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | further his studies; and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, Reverend Tarver's civic involvement in Beeville and |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | Bee County has encompassed service on the advisory task force for |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | the county judge and mayor; his professional affiliations include |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | the Mount Zion Missionary Baptist District Association of Churches, |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | the Missionary Baptist General Convention of Texas, for which he is |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | recording secretary of the State Home Mission Board, and the |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | National Baptist Convention of America, Inc.; in all of his |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | endeavors, he enjoys the love and support of his devoted wife, Dawn; |

|---|
| 30 | 30 | | WHEREAS, Reverend Tarver exemplifies the highest standards |

| 31 | 31 | | of his vocation, and through the years he has inspired countless |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | Texans with his messages of faith and goodwill; now, therefore, be |

| 34 | 34 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
