H.R. No. 2882
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, On May 30, 2009, the Reverend Eric Rendell Tarver of
Beeville is serving as Pastor of the Day for the Texas House of
Representatives; and
WHEREAS, A member of a family that has produced five
generations of preachers, Reverend Tarver answered his call to the
ministry at the age of 11 and gave his first sermon a week later; six
months after graduating from Bastrop High School in 1993, he
accepted the call to lead Macedonia Baptist Church of Carrizo
Springs, becoming one of the youngest senior pastors in the Lone
Star State at the age of 18; he later guided the congregation of
Greater Mount Olive Baptist Church in Del Rio and today serves as
pastor of the Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church in Beeville; and
WHEREAS, This esteemed clergyman has attended Southwest
Texas Junior College in Uvalde and Trinity Theological Seminary in
Indiana, and he has recently enrolled at Amarillo College to
further his studies; and
WHEREAS, Reverend Tarver's civic involvement in Beeville and
Bee County has encompassed service on the advisory task force for
the county judge and mayor; his professional affiliations include
the Mount Zion Missionary Baptist District Association of Churches,
the Missionary Baptist General Convention of Texas, for which he is
recording secretary of the State Home Mission Board, and the
National Baptist Convention of America, Inc.; in all of his
endeavors, he enjoys the love and support of his devoted wife, Dawn;
and
WHEREAS, Reverend Tarver exemplifies the highest standards
of his vocation, and through the years he has inspired countless
Texans with his messages of faith and goodwill; now, therefore, be
it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
Legislature hereby express its sincere appreciation to the Reverend
Eric Rendell Tarver for his service as Pastor of the Day for this
chamber and extend to him warmest best wishes for continued success
and fulfillment in his ministry; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Reverend Tarver as an expression of high regard by the
Texas House of Representatives.
