 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, The untimely passing of Lisa Hood Urban of Baytown
 on November 17, 2007, at the age of 51, brought a profoundly felt
 loss to her family, to her friends and colleagues, and to the
 residents of her community; and
 WHEREAS, Born in Houston on May 20, 1956, this esteemed Texan
 relocated to Baytown with her family in 1965; as a youth, she worked
 in the accounting office of The Baytown Sun before graduating from
 Ross S. Sterling High School in 1974; she attended Lee College, but
 later transferred to The University of Texas at Austin, and she
 graduated with honors; she met her future husband, Johnny Urban,
 while she was in college, and in 1982, the couple returned to
 Baytown, where they raised their two sons, John Paul and Matthew;
 and
 WHEREAS, Ms. Urban established the accounting firm
 Mendelovitz Urban and Associates in Baytown, and despite her busy
 professional life, she devoted countless hours to area
 organizations; she was a member of the Rotary Club of Baytown, and
 she was active on the Police Academy Advisory Board and in the
 United Way of Baytown Area and St. Jude's Catholic Church in
 Highlands; she also served as president of the Lakewood Civic
 Association and as the first female chair of the Baytown Chamber of
 Commerce, and she was on the board of the Friends of Lee College
 Foundation; a dedicated volunteer, Ms. Urban was the chair of the
 Baytown Area Community Long-Range Planning Commission and the
 co-chair of the Regional Urban Design Assistant Team, and she was
 named The Baytown Sun Citizen of the Year in 1996; and
 WHEREAS, With her generosity and civic leadership, Lisa Urban
 benefited her community in myriad ways, and her remarkable legacy
 will be forever treasured by all those who were fortunate enough to
 know her; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Lisa Hood Urban and
 extend sincere sympathy to the members of her family: to her husband
 of three decades, Johnny Urban; to her sons, John Paul Urban III and
 Matthew Urban; to her parents, Betty Joe and David Boothe; to her
 sisters, Rita Sheppard and Dee Anne Navarre; to her stepbrother and
 sister-in-law, Greg and Debbie Boothe; to her mother-in-law, Fern
 Urban; and to her other relatives and many friends; and, be it
 further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Lisa Hood
 Urban.
