H.R. No. 2918 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Dr. Michael W. Mansfield has retired from his position as associate professor of political science at Baylor University, concluding more than 36 years of exceptional service to the institution; and WHEREAS, A graduate of Oklahoma Christian College, Dr. Mansfield earned his master's degree from North Texas State University and went on to earn his doctorate from the University of Missouri; he began his career as an instructor at Putnam City High School, and after teaching at Christian College of the Southwest for two years, he joined the faculty at Baylor University in 1973; and WHEREAS, Dr. Mansfield is a respected member of the academic community, having published two books, Drama in Life: The Uses of Communication in Society and Government and the News Media: Comparative Dimensions, as well as numerous articles in scholarly journals addressing such topics as presidential debates and the use of television in political campaigns; and WHEREAS, Demonstrating unwavering passion for his chosen field, this esteemed educator has sparked the curiosity and interest of countless students through the years, and he may indeed reflect with pride on a career well spent; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas Legislature hereby congratulate Dr. Michael W. Mansfield on his retirement as associate professor of political science at Baylor University and extend to him sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Professor Mansfield as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
