5	5	WHEREAS, Memories of a life filled with joyful times and
6	6	meaningful accomplishments remain to comfort the family and friends
7	7	of Mike Rambo of Colleyville, who passed away on March 21, 2008, at
8	8	the age of 52; and
9	9	WHEREAS, A native of the Lone Star State, Mr. Rambo was born
10	10	in Bryan on July 28, 1955; he graduated from Andress High School and
11	11	earned his undergraduate degree from Stephen F. Austin State
12	12	University; he later studied at The University of Texas at
13	13	Arlington, where he earned a master's degree in computer
14	14	engineering, and he utilized this training as director of IT at
15	15	McKesson Corporation; and
16	16	WHEREAS, Mr. Rambo loved nature, and he shared his passion
17	17	for astronomy, birds, hiking, and camping as scoutmaster of Troop
18	18	28 in Colleyville; in addition to teaching his scouts about their
19	19	environment, he passed on principles by which he lived his life:
20	20	leadership, responsibility, citizenship, and stewardship of
21	21	nature; and
22	22	WHEREAS, This notable Texan also taught his troop about the
23	23	importance of giving back; together, they adopted and maintained
24	24	the grounds of the Colleyville Nature Center and sections of Glade
25	25	Road, and their efforts earned them the city's first Service Award;
26	26	and
27	27	WHEREAS, His own volunteerism extended to Colleyville Clean
28	28	Up Day, which he led every year, as well as to the L. D. Bell High
29	29	School Band booster organization and the First United Methodist
30	30	Church of Grapevine; recognized by the 2005, 2006, and 2007
31	31	President's Council on Service and Civic Participation, he also
32	32	earned the McKesson Corp. 2006 Neil Harlan Award for community
33	33	service; and
34	34	WHEREAS, Mr. Rambo was an Eagle Scout himself, and he
35	35	received a number of accolades during his years as a scout and a
36	36	leader; in addition, he was invited into the Order of the Arrow,
37	37	gained scoutmaster training through Wood Badge, and served as a BSA
38	38	lifeguard and cub master; and
39	39	WHEREAS, In his free time, he enjoyed playing the French horn
40	40	and serving as a coach with the Bedford Euless Soccer Association
41	41	and Mid-Cities Basketball Association; and
42	42	WHEREAS, Above all else, Mr. Rambo was devoted to his wife of
43	43	27 years, Mary-Margaret, and to his sons, Charles and Aaron, both of
44	44	whom have followed their dad's fine example and have been active in
45	45	scouting for many years; they both served as senior patrol leader
46	46	for Troop 28, and additionally, Charles is an Eagle Scout and Aaron
47	47	is a Life Scout; and
48	48	WHEREAS, Truly engaged in his community, Mike Rambo made it
49	49	his mission to serve others, and his work as an educator and as a
50	50	civic leader demonstrated his exceptional generosity and passion
51	51	for life; though he is deeply missed by all those who were
52	52	privileged to know him, he will long be remembered for the
53	53	extraordinary contributions he made to his family, friends, and
54	54	fellow residents; now, therefore, be it
55	55	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
56	56	Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Mike Rambo and extend
57	57	deepest sympathy to the members of his family: to his wife,
58	58	Mary-Margaret Rambo; to his sons, Charles and Aaron Rambo; to his
59	59	father, Colonel James Rambo; to his sisters, Cheryl Gerber, Bonnie
60	60	Binder, and Debra Rambo Cleek; to his brother, Ken Rambo; and to his
61	61	other relatives and many friends; and, be it further
62	62	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
63	63	prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
64	64	Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Mike Rambo.
