| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Raymundo Velarde was named Outstanding Lawyer at the |

| 6 | 6 | | Law Day Dinner and Awards Presentation hosted by the El Paso Bar |

| 7 | 7 | | Association on May 9, 2009; and |

| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, An attorney in private practice, Mr. Velarde is a |

| 9 | 9 | | graduate of The University of Texas at Austin and of Boston College |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | Law School; his practice includes criminal law, personal injury, |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | and federal criminal law; and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, The Law Day Dinner provides an opportunity for |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | members of the El Paso Bar Association to honor lawyers and others |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | for their professional achievements, service to the legal |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | profession, and contributions to their community, and Mr. Velarde |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | is a most deserving recipient of this impressive accolade; and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Through his dedicated efforts, Ray Velarde has |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | garnered the respect and admiration of his colleagues, and he may |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | take justifiable pride in his notable accomplishments; now, |

| 21 | 21 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
