| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Tracy Yellen has played a vital role in her |

| 6 | 6 | | community through her service with the YWCA El Paso del Norte |

| 7 | 7 | | Region; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, The El Paso YWCA seeks to empower and enrich the |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | lives of women and girls in a 17-county area, and this outstanding |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | organization is celebrating its 100th anniversary in 2009; and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | WHEREAS, A graduate of Johns Hopkins University, Ms. Yellen |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | moved to El Paso in 1992; in 1997, she was hired to oversee the |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | development of a YWCA property on the east side of the city, and she |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | subsequently was instrumental in raising funds to build the YWCA's |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | Independence House and its Sara McKnight Transitional Living |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | Center; and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Ms. Yellen went on to work for the organization on |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | the international level, managing the Global Campaign for the World |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | YWCA/USA; she presently serves on the El Paso YWCA Board of |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | Directors; and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, Dedicated volunteers contribute immeasurably to the |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | well-being of communities across the Lone Star State, and Tracy |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | Yellen has helped to secure for countless individuals the hope of a |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | brighter, more promising future; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | Legislature hereby commend Tracy Yellen for her exceptional record |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | of service with the YWCA El Paso del Norte Region and extend to her |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | sincere best wishes for continued success in all her endeavors; |
