| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Friends and family were greatly saddened by the loss |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | of Eligio Grijalva of El Paso County, who passed away on April 14, |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | 2008, at the age of 86; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Born on December 20, 1921, to Eligio and Guadalupe |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | Grijalva in El Paso, "Lico" Grijalva was a lifelong farmer who |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | operated farms in the Socorro and Clint areas; he and his wife, |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | Magdalena, raised a large family that included their children |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | Martha, Cristina, Rudy, Lupita, Lily, Gracie, Ruben, Eddie, Dikki, |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | and Ronnie; with the passing years, they also had the pleasure of |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | welcoming 26 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren into their |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | family; and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Grijalva was a lifelong parishioner of Mt. |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | Carmel Church, where he was a member of the Holy Name Society and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | Adoracion Nocturna; an active member of his community, he sponsored |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | several local baseball teams and served on the Socorro school board |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | for many years; moreover, he had the honor of being named |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | Outstanding El Paso Conservationist of the Year; and |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | WHEREAS, Eligio Grijalva lived a caring and purposeful life, |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | and although he is deeply missed, his loved ones may take comfort in |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | their many fond recollections of the joyful times they spent in his |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | company; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Eligio Grijalva and |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his wife of |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | 65 years, Magdalena Grijalva; to his children, Martha, Cristina, |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | Rudy, Lupita, Lily, Gracie, Ana, Eddie, Dikki, and Ronnie; to his |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | brothers, Ysidro, Pedro, and Johnny; to his sons-in-law, Joe, Rudy, |

| 32 | 32 | | Louie, George, Eddie, Frank, and Gilbert; to his grandchildren and |

| 33 | 33 | | great-grandchildren; and to his other relatives and friends; and, |
