H.R. No. 3058 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Friends and family were greatly saddened by the loss of Eligio Grijalva of El Paso County, who passed away on April 14, 2008, at the age of 86; and WHEREAS, Born on December 20, 1921, to Eligio and Guadalupe Grijalva in El Paso, "Lico" Grijalva was a lifelong farmer who operated farms in the Socorro and Clint areas; he and his wife, Magdalena, raised a large family that included their children Martha, Cristina, Rudy, Lupita, Lily, Gracie, Ruben, Eddie, Dikki, and Ronnie; with the passing years, they also had the pleasure of welcoming 26 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren into their family; and WHEREAS, Mr. Grijalva was a lifelong parishioner of Mt. Carmel Church, where he was a member of the Holy Name Society and Adoracion Nocturna; an active member of his community, he sponsored several local baseball teams and served on the Socorro school board for many years; moreover, he had the honor of being named Outstanding El Paso Conservationist of the Year; and WHEREAS, Eligio Grijalva lived a caring and purposeful life, and although he is deeply missed, his loved ones may take comfort in their many fond recollections of the joyful times they spent in his company; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Eligio Grijalva and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his wife of 65 years, Magdalena Grijalva; to his children, Martha, Cristina, Rudy, Lupita, Lily, Gracie, Ana, Eddie, Dikki, and Ronnie; to his brothers, Ysidro, Pedro, and Johnny; to his sons-in-law, Joe, Rudy, Louie, George, Eddie, Frank, and Gilbert; to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and to his other relatives and friends; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Eligio Grijalva.
