H.R. No. 3068 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Words cannot adequately express the heartache felt at the loss of U.S. Army Sergeant Shaun Paul Tousha of Hull, who died in Iraq on April 9, 2008, at the age of 30; and WHEREAS, Assigned to the 1st Battalion, 66th Armored Regiment, 4th Infantry Division, based at Fort Hood, Sergeant Tousha was killed in Baghdad when an improvised explosive device detonated near his vehicle; at the time, he was serving his third tour of duty in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom; and WHEREAS, Born on February 11, 1978, in Silsbee, Shaun Tousha grew up in Hull, the son of Tommy Gene and Roberta Tousha; his mother passed away while he was in junior high, and his stepmother, Doris Tousha, later helped raise him; he graduated in 1996 from Hull-Daisetta High School, where he played football and was known for his playful sense of humor and friendly nature; a true Texas cowboy, he enjoyed riding horses and bulls and going country and western dancing; and WHEREAS, Sergeant Tousha worked for a wire company in Dayton before joining the army in 2000; he attended basic training in Fort Benning, Georgia, and subsequently served as a generator equipment repairman; during his first deployment to Iraq, he decided to reenlist and pursue a career in the military; and WHEREAS, He was the caring husband of Christy Tousha and a role model to his stepchildren, Colton and Maycee; following the death of his father in 2002, he served as a source of strength and reassurance for his stepmother; and WHEREAS, Our state and nation are fortunate to have men and women whose love for their country inspires them to take up military service, yet the tragic death of this brave young man is a sobering reminder of the cost of war; Sergeant Shaun Tousha embodied the highest ideals of the U.S. armed forces, and those who knew and loved him will forever carry him close in their hearts; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of U.S. Army Sergeant Shaun Paul Tousha and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his wife, Christy Tousha; to his brother, Tommy; to his stepchildren, Colton and Maycee Burns; to his stepmother, Doris Tousha; and to his other relatives and many friends; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Shaun Paul Tousha.
