| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Jerry Anne Jurenka has been selected as the 2009 |

| 6 | 6 | | Woman of Achievement by the Zonta Club of Longview; and |

| 7 | 7 | | WHEREAS, An international organization of executives and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | professionals, the Zonta Club has worked to advance the status of |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | women through service and advocacy since it was chartered in 1955; |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | WHEREAS, Businesswoman Jerry Anne Jurenka has long been |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | active with such worthwhile community organizations as Leadership |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | Longview, the American Heart Association, and the Longview |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | Commission on Women, among others; and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, This dynamic individual is also well-known as an |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | aviation enthusiast; a mother and grandmother, she started flying |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | in her early 40s and has attended international aviation meetings |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | and events; in the 1990s, she participated in a search in the South |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | Pacific for evidence of Amelia Earhart's last flight, and she often |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | serves as a judge for flying competitions; and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, A role model and an inspiration for young women |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | throughout East Texas, Jerry Anne Jurenka has earned the respect |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | and admiration of her peers for her many contributions to her |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | community, and it is most fitting that she be recognized with this |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | prestigious award; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Jerry Anne Jurenka on being named |

| 28 | 28 | | the 2009 Woman of Achievement by the Zonta Club of Longview and |

| 29 | 29 | | extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success and |
