R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Jerry Anne Jurenka has been selected as the 2009
Woman of Achievement by the Zonta Club of Longview; and
WHEREAS, An international organization of executives and
professionals, the Zonta Club has worked to advance the status of
women through service and advocacy since it was chartered in 1955;
and
WHEREAS, Businesswoman Jerry Anne Jurenka has long been
active with such worthwhile community organizations as Leadership
Longview, the American Heart Association, and the Longview
Commission on Women, among others; and
WHEREAS, This dynamic individual is also well-known as an
aviation enthusiast; a mother and grandmother, she started flying
in her early 40s and has attended international aviation meetings
and events; in the 1990s, she participated in a search in the South
Pacific for evidence of Amelia Earhart's last flight, and she often
serves as a judge for flying competitions; and
WHEREAS, A role model and an inspiration for young women
throughout East Texas, Jerry Anne Jurenka has earned the respect
and admiration of her peers for her many contributions to her
community, and it is most fitting that she be recognized with this
prestigious award; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Jerry Anne Jurenka on being named
the 2009 Woman of Achievement by the Zonta Club of Longview and
extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success and
happiness; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Ms. Jurenka as an expression of high regard by the
Texas House of Representatives.
