5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Clif Tramel has been named the 2009 Miss Anna |

6 | 6 | | Hackett Teacher of the Year by the Weatherford Independent School |
---|
7 | 7 | | District; and |
---|
8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, First selected by his peers at Weatherford High |
---|
9 | 9 | | School, Mr. Tramel was subsequently interviewed by a panel of |
---|
10 | 10 | | college-level educators who chose two winners, one elementary and |
---|
11 | 11 | | one secondary teacher, from a total of 11 campus nominees; the |
---|
12 | 12 | | recipients go on to compete with other outstanding teachers in the |
---|
13 | 13 | | region; and |
---|
14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Tramel earned his bachelor's degree at The |
---|
15 | 15 | | University of Texas at Arlington, and he has been an educator for 20 |
---|
16 | 16 | | years; he currently teaches regular English and advanced placement |
---|
17 | 17 | | and pre-advanced placement English classes; and |
---|
18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, Along with his other classes, Mr. Tramel volunteered |
---|
19 | 19 | | to teach an English class for 17 recent immigrants from Mexico, none |
---|
20 | 20 | | of whom had previously received more than a seventh-grade |
---|
21 | 21 | | education; after two years of work with this talented educator, 12 |
---|
22 | 22 | | of the original students passed the Texas Assessment of Knowledge |
---|
23 | 23 | | and Skills test and earned their high school diplomas; and |
---|
24 | 24 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Tramel is equally generous with his colleagues; |
---|
25 | 25 | | as head of the English department, he asks his fellow teachers each |
---|
26 | 26 | | year what they would prefer to teach and then teaches whatever |
---|
27 | 27 | | classes are left; he also serves on a Texas Education Agency |
---|
28 | 28 | | advisory team that is developing end-of-course exams for sixth |
---|
29 | 29 | | graders; and |
---|
30 | 30 | | WHEREAS, Clif Tramel's dedication to his profession and his |
---|
31 | 31 | | unwavering commitment to the young people of Weatherford have set |
---|
32 | 32 | | an inspiring example for his colleagues and students alike, and he |
---|
33 | 33 | | is indeed worthy of special recognition; now, therefore, be it |
---|
34 | 34 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
---|
35 | 35 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Clif Tramel on his selection as the |
---|
36 | 36 | | 2009 Miss Anna Hackett Teacher of the Year by the Weatherford |
---|
37 | 37 | | Independent School District and extend to him sincere best wishes |
