H.R. No. 3115
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Clif Tramel has been named the 2009 Miss Anna
Hackett Teacher of the Year by the Weatherford Independent School
District; and
WHEREAS, First selected by his peers at Weatherford High
School, Mr. Tramel was subsequently interviewed by a panel of
college-level educators who chose two winners, one elementary and
one secondary teacher, from a total of 11 campus nominees; the
recipients go on to compete with other outstanding teachers in the
region; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Tramel earned his bachelor's degree at The
University of Texas at Arlington, and he has been an educator for 20
years; he currently teaches regular English and advanced placement
and pre-advanced placement English classes; and
WHEREAS, Along with his other classes, Mr. Tramel volunteered
to teach an English class for 17 recent immigrants from Mexico, none
of whom had previously received more than a seventh-grade
education; after two years of work with this talented educator, 12
of the original students passed the Texas Assessment of Knowledge
and Skills test and earned their high school diplomas; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Tramel is equally generous with his colleagues;
as head of the English department, he asks his fellow teachers each
year what they would prefer to teach and then teaches whatever
classes are left; he also serves on a Texas Education Agency
advisory team that is developing end-of-course exams for sixth
graders; and
WHEREAS, Clif Tramel's dedication to his profession and his
unwavering commitment to the young people of Weatherford have set
an inspiring example for his colleagues and students alike, and he
is indeed worthy of special recognition; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Clif Tramel on his selection as the
2009 Miss Anna Hackett Teacher of the Year by the Weatherford
Independent School District and extend to him sincere best wishes
for continued success and happiness; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Mr. Tramel as an expression of high regard by the Texas
House of Representatives.
