| 7 | 7 | | ceremony on June 6, 2009, and this occasion provides a fitting |

| 8 | 8 | | opportunity to recognize four exceptional graduating seniors; and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Graduating magna cum laude, Alejandra Garcia is a |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | member of the National Honor Society and the Science National Honor |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | Society, and she has served her fellow students through peer |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | mentoring and mediation; she has earned the Houston Livestock Show |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | and Rodeo Metropolitan Scholarship, the Longhorn Presidential |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | Scholarship, and a Texas Student Housing Scholarship, awards |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | totaling nearly $30,000; and |

| 16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, Cinthia Garcia is one of only 5,000 students to be |

| 17 | 17 | | named a National Hispanic Recognition Scholar; she is ranked second |

| 18 | 18 | | in her class, and her exceptional academic record has earned her a |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | full scholarship to Johns Hopkins University; and |

| 20 | 20 | | WHEREAS, Claudia Pineda has earned a full scholarship to the |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | University of New Mexico; a magna cum laude graduate, she has been |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | accepted into the National Honor Society and National Technical |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | Honor Society and she has been active in the drama club and the |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | Business Professionals of America; and |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | WHEREAS, Ranked fourth in her class, Falon Shackelford is a |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | National Achievement Scholar, an honor bestowed on fewer than 5,000 |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | students out of 150,000 entrants; she has earned a full scholarship |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | to Howard University; and |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | WHEREAS, These outstanding young Texans have demonstrated |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | exceptional intellect, initiative, and maturity in pursuing their |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | goals, and they are truly well prepared to face the challenges and |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | opportunities that lie ahead; now, therefore, be it |

| 33 | 33 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
