| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Shelby Mika Callaway celebrated a significant |

| 6 | 6 | | milestone in her life on May 29, 2009, when she graduated from |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | Houston Christian High School; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Demonstrating hard work and a commitment to |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | excellence, Ms. Callaway not only earned an A average, but she did |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | so while participating in numerous extracurricular activities, |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | including drill team, varsity soccer, the choir pop ensemble, and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | the concert and ladies choirs; moreover, she developed leadership |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | skills as a mentor with the Compass Club and as a student |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | ambassador; and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, Ms. Callaway has further distinguished herself in |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | the greater community; she has taken part in seven Grace |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | Presbyterian Church youth mission trips and three Susan G. Komen |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | Races for the Cure, and she helped rebuild and landscape at |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | elementary school campuses in Houston for Project 180; in both 10th |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | and 11th grades, she was recognized with the HCHS President |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | Volunteer Service Award for putting in more than 100 hours of |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | community service during the school year; and |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | WHEREAS, This outstanding young Texan has also received such |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | honors as the Drill Team Silver Spurs Sweepstakes Award and the |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | Silver Spurs Citizenship Award, and she was named the HCHS Ladies |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | Soccer Team Most Determined Player; she plans to continue her |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | education at Oklahoma State University in fall 2009; and |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | WHEREAS, Now preparing to embark on an exciting new chapter |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | in her life, Shelby Callaway may reflect with pride on all she has |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | accomplished thus far and look with anticipation toward a bright |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | future; now, therefore, be it |

| 32 | 32 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |

| 33 | 33 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Shelby Mika Callaway on her |
