 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Shelby Mika Callaway celebrated a significant
 milestone in her life on May 29, 2009, when she graduated from
 Houston Christian High School; and
 WHEREAS, Demonstrating hard work and a commitment to
 excellence, Ms. Callaway not only earned an A average, but she did
 so while participating in numerous extracurricular activities,
 including drill team, varsity soccer, the choir pop ensemble, and
 the concert and ladies choirs; moreover, she developed leadership
 skills as a mentor with the Compass Club and as a student
 ambassador; and
 WHEREAS, Ms. Callaway has further distinguished herself in
 the greater community; she has taken part in seven Grace
 Presbyterian Church youth mission trips and three Susan G. Komen
 Races for the Cure, and she helped rebuild and landscape at
 elementary school campuses in Houston for Project 180; in both 10th
 and 11th grades, she was recognized with the HCHS President
 Volunteer Service Award for putting in more than 100 hours of
 community service during the school year; and
 WHEREAS, This outstanding young Texan has also received such
 honors as the Drill Team Silver Spurs Sweepstakes Award and the
 Silver Spurs Citizenship Award, and she was named the HCHS Ladies
 Soccer Team Most Determined Player; she plans to continue her
 education at Oklahoma State University in fall 2009; and
 WHEREAS, Now preparing to embark on an exciting new chapter
 in her life, Shelby Callaway may reflect with pride on all she has
 accomplished thus far and look with anticipation toward a bright
 future; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
 Legislature hereby congratulate Shelby Mika Callaway on her
 graduation from Houston Christian High School and extend to her
 sincere best wishes for success in her future endeavors; and, be it
 further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for Ms. Callaway as an expression of high regard by the
 Texas House of Representatives.
