| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, In a season-long demonstration of teamwork and |

| 6 | 6 | | determination, the baseball team from Socorro High School in El |

| 7 | 7 | | Paso claimed the District 1-5A title and advanced to the regional |

| 8 | 8 | | finals in the University Interscholastic League state playoffs; and |

| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, The Bulldogs' success in 2009 continues the school's |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | tradition of excellence on the diamond; this was the seventh |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | consecutive year that the team was district champ, and in their |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | march through the playoffs, they retained the bi-district, area, |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | regional quarterfinal, and regional semifinal titles that they have |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | held since 2006; and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, Finishing with a record of 31 wins and just 4 losses, |

| 16 | 16 | | Socorro won the respect of its competitors and saw seven of its |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | players receive all-district honors; Cory Falvey was the district's |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | overall Most Valuable Player, while Aaron Olivas was defensive MVP |

| 19 | 19 | | and Tavi Amparan was offensive MVP; in addition, George Stoltz was |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | first team designated hitter, Chuy Diaz was first team outfielder, |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | Chris Guzman was second team pitcher, and Marcus Molina was second |

| 22 | 22 | | team outfielder; and |

| 23 | 23 | | WHEREAS, The Bulldogs also received valuable contributions |

| 24 | 24 | | from the other members of the roster: Oscar Sandate, Ivan Sigala, |

| 32 | 32 | | WHEREAS, With the enthusiastic support of their many fans, |

| 36 | 36 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |

| 37 | 37 | | Legislature hereby congratulate the 2009 Socorro High School |
