 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Mariachi Oro of Edinburg North High School has
 achieved great success, and its members are a source of pride to
 their school, their families, and all of their supporters in the
 Edinburg community; and
 WHEREAS, Since its inception, Mariachi Oro has helped many
 young Texans to further develop their self-esteem, musical talent,
 and knowledge of this distinctive aspect of Mexican culture; under
 the leadership of Joseph Torres and former member Vanessa
 Alejandro, the band has been invited to Austin to perform at the
 State Capitol; and
 WHEREAS, Members of the 2008-2009 group include Beatrix
 Balough, Michael Camacho, Gianna DeLeon, Conrad Garza, Robert
 Garza, Vanessa Garza, Hugo Hernandez, Marco Lumbreras, Stefanie
 Saenz, Jabel Tobias, Miguel Valdez, Crystal Garza, Josue Lopez,
 Adam Martinez, Adina Ramirez, Miguel Ramirez, Christian Rangel, and
 Lauren Zuniga; and
 WHEREAS, These talented young Texans have earned a number of
 honors this year; consistently a UIL Division I mariachi, they have
 been named champions or runners-up at the Texas State University La
 Feria del Mariachi Festival, Laredo Mariachi Invitational, Del Mar
 College Mariachi Festival, Edcouch-Elsa Mariachi Contest, La Joya
 Mariachi Contest, FESTIBA at UTPA, and McAllen ISD Mariachi
 Spectacular; individually, 10 members have been selected for the
 Texas Music Educators Association Region XV All-Mariachi Group,
 which represents all school districts from Alamo to Roma; and
 WHEREAS, State Representative Aaron Pena has justly
 recognized Mariachi Oro by authoring this resolution in its behalf
 during the Regular Session of the 81st Texas Legislature; now,
 therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
 Legislature hereby honor Mariachi Oro of Edinburg North High School
 for its many achievements and extend to its members sincere best
 wishes for the future; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for the band as an expression of high regard by the Texas
 House of Representatives.
