H.R. No. 594 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Manuel M. Carrillo retired from his position as a custodian with Sul Ross State University (SRSU) on January 31, 2009, bringing to a close more than a quarter-century of service to the school; and WHEREAS, A native of Alpine, Mr. Carrillo served three years in the U.S. Army and later worked with the Southern Pacific Railroad; he went on to join the staff of Big Bend Memorial Hospital, and after more than a decade with that facility, he began his employment with Sul Ross in May 1982; and WHEREAS, Over the ensuing 26 years, Mr. Carrillo worked at several university sites, including the swimming pool, Lawrence Hall, the University Center, Mountainside Residence Hall, the Industrial Technology Building, and Fletcher Hall; since 2006, he has served in Lobo Village Residential Complex; and WHEREAS, Mr. Carrillo earned a reputation for his work ethic and his cheerful personality; he also remained accident free throughout his employment with the university, and that record earned him a safety award from the institution; and WHEREAS, In all of his endeavors, Mr. Carrillo has been blessed with the love and support of his wife, Jessie, and their children, Sylvia, James, Michael, and Manuel Carrillo, Jr.; he looks forward to spending more time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren in retirement; and WHEREAS, Manuel Carrillo has demonstrated outstanding dedication throughout his career at Sul Ross, and he may look back with pride on his record of service; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas Legislature hereby congratulate Manuel M. Carrillo on his retirement from Sul Ross State University and extend to him sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. Carrillo as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
