 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Residents of Brewster County lost a beloved neighbor
 and friend with the passing of Mary Linn Brown Reider on December
 21, 2008, at the age of 84; and
 WHEREAS, Born to George Augustus Brown and Augusta Linn Brown
 on March 10, 1924, in Alpine, Mary Linn Brown grew up on the
 Haley-Brown Ranch at the foot of Cathedral Mountain, south of town;
 affectionately known as "Mimze" to her family and friends, she
 enjoyed the companionship of two brothers, John and George, and
 three sisters, Margaret, Catherine, and Josephine; and
 WHEREAS, A gifted dancer, she moved to New York City and
 performed professionally with the New York City Ballet, working
 with famed choreographer George Balanchine and the company's first
 prima ballerina, Maria Tallchief; she also had the opportunity to
 appear in several films; and
 WHEREAS, Mrs. Reider and her husband, the actor Edward
 "Eddie" Reider, were married in 1949; she lived in Los Angeles for a
 number of years before returning to the family ranch in 1968; and
 WHEREAS, Mary Linn Reider lived a rewarding life that was
 rich in family, friends, and meaningful artistic accomplishments,
 and she will forever hold a treasured place in the hearts of her
 loved ones; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Mary Linn Brown Reider
 and extend sincere condolences to the members of her family: to her
 daughter and son, Tracey and John Reider; to her grandchildren,
 Yesenia Linn and Jeremy Bogart Reider, Kent Edward Becker, and Paul
 Becker IV; to her siblings, Margaret Anne DeBarbrie and John Andrew
 Brown; to her niece and nephews, Mary Anne DeBarbrie, Thomas
 Mathews, and Kelli and Jim Brown; to her great-nephews, Charles
 Mathews and Connor Brown; and to her other relatives and friends;
 and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Mary Linn
 Reider.
