5	5	WHEREAS, Russell Cain of Port Lavaca has been elected the
6	6	2008-2009 district governor of South Texas District 5930 of Rotary
7	7	International; and
8	8	WHEREAS, Mr. Cain has been a leading member of the Port Lavaca
9	9	Rotary Club since 1979, with perfect attendance for 14 of those
10	10	years; he has served as club president and assistant district
11	11	governor and, for two decades, as chair of the Rotary Golf
12	12	Tournament; he is a life member of the Paul Harris Society, and in
13	13	2000, he received the District 5930 Award for Meritorious Service;
14	14	and
15	15	WHEREAS, The owner of Russell Cain Real Estate, Mr. Cain is
16	16	also a leader in his profession, having served several terms as
17	17	president of the Calhoun County Board of Realtors; a member of the
18	18	National Association of Realtors and the Texas Association of
19	19	Realtors, he has been named Realtor of the Year, and his company won
20	20	recognition in 2006 as the top Coldwell Banker agency in the nation
21	21	in its category; and
22	22	WHEREAS, Mr. Cain has long been an active community
23	23	volunteer, serving as a director of Bluebonnet Youth Ranch, the
24	24	Gulf Bend MHMR Center, the Calhoun County Economic Development
25	25	Corporation, the Calhoun County Work Activity Center, and the local
26	26	chapter of the American Cancer Society; in addition, he has served
27	27	as president of Hatch Bend Country Club and as chair of the Memorial
28	28	Medical Center Foundation; and
29	29	WHEREAS, A director of Port Lavaca Main Street, Inc., and its
30	30	president for 17 years, Mr. Cain demonstrated his deep commitment
31	31	to the preservation of the city's heritage when he purchased the
32	32	historic Main Street Theatre and donated it to the Main Street
33	33	Committee in 1992; and
34	34	WHEREAS, For all that he has done in behalf of his community,
35	35	Mr. Cain has been named Man of the Year by the local chamber of
36	36	commerce and Citizen of the Year by the Veterans of Foreign Wars;
37	37	moreover, he has received the chamber's Community Service Award and
38	38	a 20th Century Most Influential Citizen Award 2000 for Calhoun
39	39	County; and
40	40	WHEREAS, The selfless efforts of community leaders help
41	41	improve the lives of all Texans, and the citizens of Calhoun County
42	42	are fortunate indeed to count Russell Cain among their fellow
43	43	residents; now, therefore, be it
44	44	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
45	45	Legislature hereby congratulate Russell Cain on his election as
46	46	district governor of South Texas District 5930 of Rotary
47	47	International and extend to him sincere best wishes for a
48	48	successful tenure; and, be it further
49	49	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
50	50	prepared for Mr. Cain as an expression of high regard by the Texas
51	51	House of Representatives.
