| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The year 2008 marked the 60th anniversary of Wright |

| 6 | 6 | | Distributing Company, and this notable business is indeed deserving |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | of recognition for its many decades of dedicated service to Central |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | Texas; and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, In 1948, Louis and Virginia Wright founded a |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | beverage distribution company in Bastrop County and began their |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | operation in a very straightforward manner: Mr. Wright would drive |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | a truck to New Orleans to buy a load of Jax Beer and then return to |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | Bastrop to sell it in the local area; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, In time, the business expanded; Wright Distributing |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | contracted with additional suppliers and began to serve a wider |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | area; today, it employs nearly 150 people and serves 13 counties out |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | of warehouses located in Bastrop, New Braunfels, and Taylor; the |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | company is an important distributor for Miller Brewing, and its |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | exceptional sales performance has been recognized by the brewer on |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | numerous occasions; and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, Wright Distributing remains a family-run operation, |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | with Jane Wright and Sandy Wright Kibby, the daughters of the |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | company's founders, serving as president and vice president, |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | respectively; other owners include general manager Tom Clayton, |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | vice president Clay Kibby, and Kim Kibby Bratton, the daughter of |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | Sandy Wright Kibby; and |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | WHEREAS, For six decades, this locally owned business has |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | made significant contributions to the area economy, and it stands |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | as an inspiring example of the achievements that can be realized by |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | hardworking entrepreneurs in the Lone Star State; now, therefore, |

| 32 | 32 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
