H.R. No. 642 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, The year 2008 marked the 60th anniversary of Wright Distributing Company, and this notable business is indeed deserving of recognition for its many decades of dedicated service to Central Texas; and WHEREAS, In 1948, Louis and Virginia Wright founded a beverage distribution company in Bastrop County and began their operation in a very straightforward manner: Mr. Wright would drive a truck to New Orleans to buy a load of Jax Beer and then return to Bastrop to sell it in the local area; and WHEREAS, In time, the business expanded; Wright Distributing contracted with additional suppliers and began to serve a wider area; today, it employs nearly 150 people and serves 13 counties out of warehouses located in Bastrop, New Braunfels, and Taylor; the company is an important distributor for Miller Brewing, and its exceptional sales performance has been recognized by the brewer on numerous occasions; and WHEREAS, Wright Distributing remains a family-run operation, with Jane Wright and Sandy Wright Kibby, the daughters of the company's founders, serving as president and vice president, respectively; other owners include general manager Tom Clayton, vice president Clay Kibby, and Kim Kibby Bratton, the daughter of Sandy Wright Kibby; and WHEREAS, For six decades, this locally owned business has made significant contributions to the area economy, and it stands as an inspiring example of the achievements that can be realized by hardworking entrepreneurs in the Lone Star State; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas Legislature hereby honor the 60th anniversary of Wright Distributing Company and extend to the management and staff sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for the company as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
