| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Rushan Gao of Houston has once again demonstrated |

| 6 | 6 | | remarkable athletic skill by earning three gold medals in table |

| 7 | 7 | | tennis at the 2008 Huntsman World Senior Games in St. George, Utah; |

| 8 | 8 | | and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, One of the premier senior athletic events in the |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | world, the Huntsman World Senior Games is an annual international, |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | Olympic-style sporting event that attracts more than 9,500 athletes |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | to compete in a wide variety of events; and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, A dominant force among table tennis players ages 80 |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | and older, Mr. Gao has won gold medals in men's singles, men's |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | doubles, and mixed doubles at every Huntsman event since 2005, a |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | total of 12 first-place finishes in the last four years; and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Gao has also enjoyed success in other |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | competitions, including his victories in mixed doubles and men's |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | singles play at the 2008 San Antonio Senior Games and in the mixed |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | doubles category at the 2008 Kerrville Senior Games; in addition, |

| 21 | 21 | | he finished third in the over-80 singles division at the USA Table |

| 22 | 22 | | Tennis U.S. Open in 2004; and |

| 23 | 23 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Gao's notable and ongoing achievements help to |

| 24 | 24 | | demonstrate the benefits of good health and physical fitness for |

| 25 | 25 | | people of all ages, and he serves as an inspiring example of how |

| 26 | 26 | | Texans can live vigorous and eventful lives deep into their golden |

| 28 | 28 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |

| 29 | 29 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Rushan Gao on his many victories at |
