 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, The Mesquite Independent School District Education
 Foundation is holding its third annual fund-raising gala on March
 7, 2009; and
 WHEREAS, Established by the MISD Board of Trustees in 2004,
 the Mesquite ISD Education Foundation is dedicated to enhancing the
 studies of area young people; the group solicits donations from
 alumni, citizens, businesses, and other organizations in an effort
 to provide enrichment opportunities for both teachers and students;
 and
 WHEREAS, The foundation seeks to create a permanent endowment
 to supplement public education dollars; it received its first
 donation in December 2004, and by June 2007, it had raised more than
 $800,000 and awarded $400,000 in initiatives and grants; and
 WHEREAS, Headlined by Three Dog Night, the Lone Star Legacy
 benefit is expected to draw nearly 10,000 attendees in support of
 the foundation and its worthwhile cause; and
 WHEREAS, The Mesquite ISD Education Foundation is to be
 commended for fostering an improved educational environment, one
 that will make a positive difference in students' lives for years to
 come; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
 Legislature hereby honor the Mesquite Independent School District
 Education Foundation on the occasion of its third annual
 fund-raising gala and extend sincere best wishes to all those
 involved with the organization for continued success with their
 important work; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for the foundation as an expression of high regard by the
 Texas House of Representatives.
